Let’s Start a Home Demonstration Club!
“The homemaker has the ultimate career. All other careers exist for only one purpose only—and that is to support the ultimate career.”
-C.S. Lewis
A few generations ago, the Stiversville Home Demonstration Club had a founding member living on what is now Carlsons Farm. Learning about these meetings whilst researching our property got me thinking—why can’t we have something like that now?
Some of us have grown up with close female friends and relatives to pass down skills and some are literally learning things “from scratch”.
Let’s share our wealth of knowledge, love, and energy with each other so that we can be continue to grow as we strive to enrich our households and families.
FAQs
-
A Home Demonstration Club (HDC) is a group of homemakers who meet periodically to share skills, hobbies, and knowledge with each other.
The goal is to pour into ourselves and grow in ways that are intellectually stimulating and beneficial to our households while also connecting with other women in our community.
-
We all have busy lives.
My hope is that our HDC can meet one day per month. Depending on the skill being shared, the amount of time together may vary from 1-2 hours to a half day.
-
The purpose of an HDC is a core group of women with a diverse set of skills and interests that they are willing to share with each other.
In order for this to work, each of us must be willing to host a meeting and teach. This can be anything from making sourdough to milking a cow (on the homesteading side) or organizing homesteading curriculum to keeping up with a menu plan (on the more modern SAHM side).
You can choose to host at your own property or at Carlsons Farm.

In order to grow enough interest to make this feasible, my hope is to spread the word throughout the summer (feel free to share this link) and hopefully start HDC meetings sometime around fall. By filling out this form, you will be signing up for any updates regarding the development of this group.
Once I have at least five others interested in participating and hosting (guaranteeing a topic for the first five meetings) , we can start cementing the time for our first meeting.
Looking forward to hearing your feedback below!
